Bluetooth peripherals (keyboard, mouse) stop responding after the PC wakes from sleep or is powered back on after a long shutdown. The Bluetooth adapter itself is still present and working — the issue is that Windows does not automatically reconnect the devices.

Quick fix: toggle Bluetooth off and on
Before trying the steps below, toggle Bluetooth off and back on in Settings → Bluetooth & devices, or press Win + A to open Quick Settings. This forces Windows to re-scan for paired devices and often reconnects them immediately.
If this works but you have to do it every time, continue with the steps below to fix the root cause.
Step 1: Disable power management on the Bluetooth adapter
Windows may power off the Bluetooth adapter during sleep to save energy, preventing automatic reconnection on wake.
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Bluetooth → right-click your Bluetooth adapter → Properties.
- Open the Power Management tab.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" → click OK.
- Restart your PC and test.
Step 2: Check Windows sleep and wake settings
Certain sleep modes cut power to USB and Bluetooth entirely, making reconnection impossible without a manual toggle.
- Go to Settings → System → Power & sleep → Additional power settings.
- Click Change plan settings → Change advanced power settings.
- Under Sleep, set "Allow hybrid sleep" to Off.
- Under USB settings → USB selective suspend setting, set to Disabled.
- Click Apply → OK and restart.
Step 3: Re-pair the Bluetooth device
After a long shutdown (especially more than a few days), some Bluetooth devices lose their pairing state. Re-pairing restores the connection.
- Go to Settings → Bluetooth & devices.
- Find the device → click the three-dot menu → Remove device.
- Put the device into pairing mode (refer to the device's manual).
- Click Add device and pair again.
Step 4: Check BIOS wake-on-Bluetooth setting
Some GEEKOM models have a BIOS option that controls whether Bluetooth devices can wake the PC. If this is disabled, the Bluetooth adapter may not initialize properly on wake.
- Restart and press Del to enter BIOS.
- Navigate to Advanced → USB Configuration or Power Management.
- Look for "Wake on Bluetooth" or "Bluetooth Wake-up" — if available, set to Enabled.
- Save and exit (F10).
Final Recommendation
If Bluetooth peripherals still fail to reconnect after sleep or shutdown after completing all steps, contact GEEKOM Customer Service with your product model, serial number, and a description of the issue.
