If your GEEKOM Mini PC was working normally, was left unused for several days or weeks, and now shows no response when you try to power it on — no light, no fan, no display — this article covers the most common causes and recovery steps.
| Symptom | Go to |
|---|---|
| No response at all after days of being unused — no light, no fan | Step 1 |
| Monitor flickers briefly then shows "no signal" on power attempt | Step 2 |
| Device stopped working suddenly with no prior warning | Step 1 → Step 3 |
| Stopped working after a power outage | GK-PWR-02 |
Step 1: Full discharge and power cycle
After an extended period of inactivity, residual charge in the power circuit can prevent the device from starting. A full discharge clears this state.
- Disconnect the power adapter from both the wall outlet and the Mini PC.
- Remove all external devices: USB drives, monitors, keyboards, mice, docking stations.
- Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
- Wait an additional 2 minutes before reconnecting anything.
- Reconnect only the power adapter (no other devices) and try powering on.
- If the device starts, reconnect external devices one at a time to identify any that may be causing a conflict.
Step 2: Monitor flickers then shows "no signal"
A brief monitor flicker followed by "no signal" indicates the device is receiving power and attempting to start, but is failing during POST or early boot. This is different from a completely dead device.
- Try a different HDMI cable and a different monitor to rule out display issues.
- If the same symptom occurs on a different monitor, the device is reaching partial POST — proceed to GK-PWR-01 Branch C for system startup troubleshooting.
Step 3: CMOS battery reset
The CMOS battery maintains BIOS settings and the real-time clock when the device is unpowered. After extended storage or inactivity, a depleted or reset CMOS can prevent the device from starting.
- Open the bottom cover and locate the CMOS coin-cell battery on the motherboard.
- Disconnect the CMOS battery connector and wait 5 minutes.
- Reconnect the CMOS battery, reassemble, and attempt to power on.
- If the device starts, enter BIOS (press Del on startup) → select Load Optimized Defaults → press F4 to save. The system clock will need to be reset.
Note: Opening the chassis may not affect your warranty.
Step 4: Check the power adapter
Power adapters can fail independently of the Mini PC. If you have access to a multimeter, check that the adapter is outputting the correct voltage (printed on the adapter label). If not, try borrowing a compatible adapter from another GEEKOM device of the same model to test.
Final Recommendation
If the device remains completely unresponsive after all steps, the issue is likely an internal hardware failure — either the power management circuit or the motherboard. Contact GEEKOM Customer Service and provide:
- Product model and serial number
- Order number or proof of purchase
- How long the device was unused before the issue occurred
- All steps already attempted
