Power cycle the device
Shut down the device → unplug the power supply → hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge residual power, then power on and test.
Clean the contacts
Remove the SD card and check its metal gold contacts for stains, oxidation or scratches. Gently wipe the metal contacts of the SD card with a lint-free cloth or eraser.
Use compressed air at low pressure to blow away dust and debris inside the card slot.
Identify the source of the fault
Can this SD card be detected on another card reader or another device?
Can another working SD card be recognized when inserted into the SD card slot of this device?
- If the card works on other devices but cannot be detected on this device: Issue with the card slot, driver or operating system
- If the card cannot be read on any device: The SD card is damaged
- If no SD cards can be recognized in this device’s slot: Hardware failure of the SD card slot
- Verify compatibility of the SD card specification
Open Device Manager to check if the system detects the hardware
Press Win+X → open Device Manager
Expand: Disk drives / Universal Serial Bus controllers / SD host controllers
Scenario ①: The device list refreshes after inserting the SD card, and a yellow exclamation mark appears
Right-click the device → Uninstall device. Restart the computer to automatically reinstall the driver.
Alternatively, download the corresponding SD card reader driver for your model from the official website.
Scenario ②: No changes appear in the device list after inserting the SD card
Most likely cause: Poor contact or hardware damage of the SD card slot.
