Most GEEKOM Mini PCs support user-upgradeable RAM. This article explains how to check your current configuration, what RAM is compatible, and how to install it — without voiding your warranty.

| Single channel vs. dual channel — does it matter? | Step 3 |
| Will upgrading RAM void my warranty? | Step 4 |
| How do I install the new RAM? | Step 5 |
Step 1: Check your current RAM configuration
Before purchasing new RAM, check what is currently installed and how many slots are available.
- Press Win + R → type msinfo32 → press Enter.
- Look for Installed Physical Memory (RAM) to see total capacity.
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) → Performance tab → Memory.
- Check Slots used — for example, "2 of 2" means both slots are occupied and you must replace existing modules to upgrade. "1 of 2" means one slot is free.
You can also check the RAM type (DDR4 or DDR5) and current speed on this screen.
Step 2: Find the maximum supported RAM for your model
Each GEEKOM model has a specific maximum RAM capacity and supported type. Visit service.geekompc.com and search for your model to find the official specifications.
Common specifications by series:
| Series | RAM type | Max capacity | Slots |
|---|---|---|---|
| IT13, IT12, IT11 | DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM | 64 GB | 2 |
| A8 Max, A9 Max | DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM | 96 GB | 2 |
| A6, A5 | DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM | 64 GB | 2 |
| GT1 Mega, XT1 Mega | DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM | 64 GB | 2 |
| Mini IT11, Mini IT12 | DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM | 64 GB | 2 |
Important: Always verify the exact specification for your model on the official website before purchasing. Specifications may vary between sub-variants of the same series.
RAM modules must be SO-DIMM form factor (not full-size DIMM). Standard desktop RAM will not fit.
Step 3: Single channel vs. dual channel
Dual-channel memory provides significantly better performance than single-channel, especially for integrated graphics (which share system RAM as video memory).
- Dual channel: Two identical modules installed in both slots (e.g. 2 × 16 GB = 32 GB total). This is the recommended configuration for best performance.
- Single channel: One module in one slot. Works correctly but delivers lower memory bandwidth.
For best results, use two modules of the same brand, capacity, and speed. Mixing modules of different speeds is possible but the system will run both at the lower speed.
To check whether your current setup is single or dual channel: open Task Manager → Performance → Memory and look for the Speed and Slots used fields. CPU-Z (free download) provides more detailed channel information under the Memory tab.
Step 4: Does upgrading RAM void the warranty?
No. RAM and storage upgrades performed by the user do not void the GEEKOM 3-year warranty, provided the upgrade does not cause physical damage to the device. GEEKOM Mini PCs are designed to be user-upgradeable.
If you are unsure about opening your specific model, contact GEEKOM Customer Service before proceeding — they can confirm the upgrade procedure for your model.
Step 5: Install the new RAM
- Power off the device completely and disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove all external devices.
- Open the bottom cover (typically 4 screws on the underside).
- Locate the SO-DIMM slot(s). If replacing an existing module, release the retaining clips on both sides — the module will pop up at an angle.
- Insert the new module at a 45-degree angle, aligning the notch on the module with the key in the slot.
- Press the module down firmly until the retaining clips click into place on both sides.
- Reassemble the bottom cover, reconnect power, and start the device.
- Verify the new RAM is recognized: Task Manager → Performance → Memory should show the updated total capacity.
Tip: If the device does not boot after installing new RAM, reseat the module — it may not be fully inserted. Also confirm the module is compatible with your model's specification.
Recommended RAM brands
The following brands are commonly used and compatible with GEEKOM Mini PCs:
- Kingston (e.g. KVR32S22S8/16)
- Samsung (e.g. M471A4G43MB1-CTD for DDR4)
- Crucial
- Corsair
Always match the DDR generation (DDR4 or DDR5), speed, and voltage to your model's specification. Using DDR5 RAM in a DDR4 slot or vice versa is not possible — the physical connectors are different.
Final Recommendation
If you are unsure which RAM to purchase for your specific model, contact GEEKOM Customer Service with your product model and serial number — the team can confirm the exact compatible specification.
