Connect a monitor using a DisplayPort‑to‑USB‑C cable

Customer has an IT13 with i9‑13900HK. They are trying to connect an iiyama Prolite XUB3293UHSN 31.5‑inch monitor using a DisplayPort‑to‑USB‑C cable, but the screen fails to turn on. They would like to know whether this is caused by the cable or the port.

The USB‑C port on the iiyama Prolite XUB3293UHSN 31.5‑inch monitor does support DP video output. Beyond video input, it also supports USB‑C video, 65 W PD power delivery, USB hub and RJ45 Ethernet. This means if the PC supports USB‑C DP Alt Mode, a single USB‑C cable can handle video output, USB peripherals, Ethernet connection and power supply to the host.

The USB‑C (USB4) port on the IT13 also supports DP 1.4 video output. Two points need to be verified:

1. Confirm whether the customer’s USB‑C cable explicitly supports DP video output. Not all‑C‑to‑C cables carry video signals.
2. Confirm that the monitor has its own separate power supply. The IT13 USB‑C port can deliver a maximum of 15 W and cannot power‑up the monitor on its own.
