Here are common troubleshooting steps for wired network issues on a computer (such as no internet access, unstable connection, or "Unidentified network"). Follow them in order.
Determining Current Network Status Through Ethernet Port Lights(Easy to Operate)
For most GEEKOM products, the LAN port is a 2.5G Ethernet port, which is sufficient for compatibility with most usage scenarios.
The color of the Ethernet port light usually indicates the connection status and network activity: green indicates a high-speed connection (100 Mbps/1000 Mbps) or data activity; amber yellow indicates a lower speed (10/100 Mbps) or potential issues; red indicates an error; and no light indicates no connection.
- Taking the GEEKOM A6 as an example, when connected to a Gigabit wired network, the Ethernet port light flashes yellow and green, and the network properties in the system settings also display the current network link speed.
Check Physical Connections(Easy to Operate)
This is the simplest but most often overlooked step.
- Reseat the Cable:Unplug the Ethernet cable and plug it back in firmly to both your PC and the router until you hear a "click".
- Change Ports:Try plugging the cable into a different LAN port on your router.
- Check for Cable Damage:Inspect the cable for any bends or damage. If possible, test with a different Ethernet cable.
Restart Network Equipment
Many network issues can be resolved by a simple power cycle.
- Restart your PC:Clears temporary system glitches.
- Restart Router and Modem:Unplug the power cables, wait for 30 seconds, and then plug them back in.
Check Drivers in Device Manager
Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause the network adapter to stop working.
- Update Driver:Right-click "This PC" -> "Manage" -> "Device Manager" -> "Network adapters," find your Ethernet controller, and try to update it.
- Uninstall & Reinstall:If updating doesn't work, uninstall the device and restart your PC; the system will attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.
If none of the above methods resolve your issue, please feel free to contact GEEKOM Customer Service for assistance.
