The pc is working extremely slowly. Its taking 15 minutes to get from switch on to the Windows screen and a further 15 minutes to get to the Desktop screen.
POSSIBLE CAUSES
Software Level
Windows update stuck, driver conflicts, or too many third-party software programs loading at startup.
Hardware Level
- SSD Failure: This is the most common cause. If the SSD has bad sectors or is nearing failure, reading system files will become extremely slow.
- RAM Issues: Poor contact or faulty memory will cause the system to frequently use virtual memory.
Troubleshooting Steps
Please try the following steps to diagnose the issue:
- Disconnect all external devices: Unplug all USB peripherals except the monitor, keyboard and mouse (such as portable hard drives, printers, etc.), then restart your computer.
- Enter Safe Mode: Try to boot into Windows Safe Mode. If the system runs smoothly in Safe Mode, the problem is caused by conflicting third-party software or drivers.
- Check SSD health: If you can access the desktop, download tools such as CrystalDiskInfo to check the health status of your solid-state drive.
- Reset BIOS: Repeatedly press the Del key during startup to enter BIOS, select Load Optimal Defaults, save the settings and exit.
- Hardware self-inspection: If the above methods do not work, it is recommended to re-seat the RAM sticks and SSD.
