Units pre‑installed with Windows IoT, same as Windows 11 Pro models, have the corresponding system activation key embedded in hardware. Automatic activation takes place once connected to the internet.
If the reinstalled OS version differs from the factory‑installed version — for instance, the original factory OS is Windows IoT, but Windows 11 Pro is reinstalled — automatic activation may fail because the OS version does not match the hardware‑bound activation key. In such cases, the customer needs to reinstall the exact factory‑matched OS version or resolve activation on their own. If the IoT system download file for their product model is unavailable on the website, please contact customer support.
In addition, it is not possible to retrieve the system activation key for models running Windows IoT.
